How to Design an Effective Social Media Marketing Platform

January 1, 2019Erhan Yilmaz

The potential for social media as a marketing arm of your business can be powerful, provided it is handled in the correct manner. The following tips will help you to design an effective social media marketing platform for your business.

The first and most important step for you to take is to choose a social media platform to use as the center of your marketing campaign. Today, you have a number of options from which to choose, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Google Plus. In choosing a platform for your social media marketing platform, make sure you choose one that will support your overall marketing strategy. Your choice of a social media platform may also depend on the type of industry/business in which you are involved. In addition, you should consider your target audience. Where are you most likely to find them?

If you have not already identified your target audience, now is certainly the time to do so. Along with information regarding tastes and preferences, you should also have information about relevant demographics and how your customers are most likely to interact on various social media platforms. This type of information can prove to be critical in helping you to design a social media marketing platform that is effective and successful.

When you are ready to implement your social media marketing campaign, it is important to ensure that you are familiar with the culture of the platform that you have chosen. While many social media platforms share a few elements in common, do not make the mistake of thinking that they are all the same. Every social media platform has a unique culture and in order to succeed in your marketing efforts using that platform, you need to be familiar with the culture. One way to handle this is to spend some time interacting with users on the platform before you begin implementing your marketing campaign. This serves a two-pronged purpose. Along with helping you to become more familiar with the platform’s culture, it also helps you to become introduced to users on the site. Users of social media are usually more likely to be accepting of a brand or business when they have previously interacted with them.

One of the best ways to discover the type of content that you should be sharing as part of your social media marketing campaign is to actually talk to your customers. This can take the form of conducting a survey or a poll, but do make the effort to find out what your customers need and want. Along those same lines, it is also important to make sure you are aware of what the competition is doing. You certainly cannot compete if you do not know what you are up against. While you do not want to copy what your competition is doing, you do need to be aware of what is out there so that you can offer something different.

As is the case with any other type of online marketing campaign, it is also important to ensure that you utilize unique, engaging content when marketing on social media. Keep in mind that most people use social media because they want to keep up with the latest news, buzz, and gossip. They are looking for information that is new and interesting. To make the most of social media marketing, you need to make sure that your content is valuable, refreshing, engaging, and highly focused. Whether it takes the form of videos, tweets, posts, games, or questions, make sure that it catches the attention of your audience.

The only way to know whether or not your social media marketing campaign is successful is to measure it. An evaluation of your social media marketing campaign should be performed on a regular basis. Keep in mind that even if your marketing campaign has worked in the past, the world of social media can change quickly. Regular evaluation can help you to stay on top of changing trends.

With the right campaign, social media marketing can provide businesses in any industry with the opportunity to attract attention and engage with clients.
